Watt Watchers

A Watt Watcher's Green Ticket
The Watt Watchers of Texas project is very beneficial towards saving energy, which is a big step toward saving the Earth.  This program also helps to save $50 per day over a 180-day school year.  That's a lot!

A Watt Watcher's job is to check every class in their school and mark whether they are using electricity properly.  For example, when teachers are in the room and using electricity, they get a green ticket.  If they leave the lights on when they are not in the room, they get a red ticket.  A green ticket says "Thanks!", and a red ticket says "Next time!  Look!!  For Wasted energy--lights out when you're out!"  The best times to check are when classrooms are likely to be empty: before school, at recess or lunch periods, and after school.   At the end of the month, a Watt Watcher gives his or her findings to the teachers and talks about why they are doing this project.
