FAQ
What happened to Kidz Magazine? Is it the same as KidzEra?
You may know KidzEra as Kidz Magazine. KidzEra was created to bring Kidz Magazine to the web and beyond. The By Kids, For Kids philosophy of Kidz remains the same - KidzEra media is by you, for you!
Can I submit my work to KidzEra?
Yes! Anyone between the ages of 5-18 can send their work to KidzEra! You can participate in any project by clicking the "Participate" button and uploading your file.
You can also mail any of your art, designs, pictures, poems, thoughts and writing to:
KidzEra
PO Box 20250
Boulder, CO 80308
Be sure to include a submission form with all mailed submissions!
Help! I really want to submit my work, but I don't have access to a scanner! What should I do?
If you don't have access to a scanner, or can't submit your work online, you can still send your work to:
KidzEra
PO Box 20250
Boulder, CO 80308
Be sure to include a submission form with all mailed submissions!
I saw a project in KidzEra Magazine, but I don't see it online. Can I still submit my writing and art to this project?
Of course! You can join any project by mailing your work to KidzEra.
KidzEra
PO Box 20250
Boulder, CO 80308
Be sure to include a submission form with all mailed submissions!
What can I submit?
You can submit any original work you create including artwork, writing, video, photography, digital art and games. If there is a topic you would like to see covered in KidzEra, write about it and send it in! The only limit is your creativity.
Why wasn't my work published?
KidzEra receives thousands of submissions each month from kids around the world. This means that not every single submission we receive will be published. Because KidzEra Magazine is limited by space, more students are published online than in the magazine. If you weren't published in the magazine, check out KidzEra.com to see if you were published online! We hold onto submissions for a year, so if your submission was not published right away, it may be published in the upcoming months! The more submissions you send in, the more likely it is that you will be published. So if you're not published at first, keep trying!
I though we received a check when we were published in KidzEra Magazine. Why did you change it to Points?
To keep KidzEra Magazine free to students, and to publish as many students as possible, we moved to a point system.
My work was published in KidzEra Magazine, but I haven't received my Points yet. What should I do?
When you are published in the KidzEra Magazine, you will receive notification that you have become a published author or artist and a code redeemable for Points. You can let your teacher know that you have been published and are expecting an envelope to be mailed to your classroom. Be patient, Point codes can take up to 60 days to be delivered. If you haven't received your Points after that time, have your teacher or parent send an email to KidzPoints@KidzEra.com including your name, when you were published, what was published, and a current address to mail the Points to. You can also have your parent or teacher call us at 1.888.400.KIDZ (5439).
Can I send a poem or illustration to KidzEra and to another publication, such as Stone Soup?
Yes! When you send a submission to KidzEra, you still co-own the copyright. You just agree that KidzEra can publish the submission online or in KidzEra Magazine, and may make edits as we feel necessary.
The KidzEra Submission Form says that KidzEra owns the copyright to my work if I send it in. Does this mean I can't use it for anything else?
KidzEra can publish the work, republish the work online or elsewhere, and edit the work to be published. You can still do whatever you want with your writing or artwork - print your work, submit it to local art shows, give it to friends, send it to your grandparents - anything you like!
I have an idea for a feature in KidzEra. How can I share it?
You can send us a comment at comments@kidzera.com. You can also write up your idea and create an example or sketch and send it to KidzEra:

P.O. Box 20250
Boulder, CO 80308
Or even give us a call and tell us about your idea! 1.888.400.KIDZ (5439)
How (and why) is KidzEra Magazine free?
KidzEra believes you have the right to an education and you (and your teacher!) shouldn't have to pay for sweet educational resources. Not only that, but we also believe that companies have a lot of relevant things they could teach you (rather than just advertising!), like what goes into making an iPod or how to build a rollercoaster. Companies also have a genuine interest in supporting your education - after all, you are the innovators, inventors, entrepreneurs, managers and employees of tomorrow! We build partnerships with companies that share this vision to bring you KidzEra for free.
One of my friends created a bunch of extra accounts on kidzera.com so he could vote on his own artwork and I don't think it's fair. Cheating is not nice. Can you help?
Yes, we can help! Send us the username of the person you think is cheating and we'll investigate.
